Half-Updo for Floor-Length Hair

Hi friends,

On Saturday night I used the eggs/olive oil/coconut oil mask on my hair, so the next morning I wanted to have a hairstyle that would show the shine that my hair always has after using this treatment.  I pulled my hair back in a some-up-some-down fashion, then braided the length in a loose English braid.  I wrapped my braid up and around my first hair clip to make a small center bun, which I held in place with two more hair clips.  The braid keeps my hair from getting tangled as the day goes on.  In fact, when I took my hair down last night, it was hardly tangled at all!

Thank you for following my posts.  Early this morning I recorded a new hairstyle video demonstrating how I make my Flower Petal Bun.  A friend had seen this hairstyle and asked me to show how I pin the loops in place to make this curly bun.  I am looking forward to sharing my video with you soon <3

  3. Your hair is so shiny. I have been doing the same mask(learned from you, thanks) for a couple months now and it is wonderful and my hair is stronger and shinier. I try to do once a week. Keep all the great hair tips coming!

What recipe did you make for your hair mask?

    1. Thank you <3 I mix together 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons coconut oil. The mixture looks like a really creamy lotion. I put this on my hair, pile my hair up on top of my head and wrap it in a plastic bag. I let this sit for about an hour, then take a shower and rinse the egg mixture out completely with cool water before washing my hair as usual. I do this about once every six weeks or so. It is a great way to get any excess oils out of your hair. I have a tendency to put too much coconut oil in my hair over time, and this hair mask leaves my hair clean and shiny and soft.

  5. Thank you so much for sharing! I guess you use it on dry hair or do you make it damp first?
I use more oils now my hair is getting longer (almost tailbone length) and this might be very beneficial to me as well.

    1. I put it on my dry hair. And then during the week I put coconut oil on the ends of my hair, usually at night. That's why I can tend to use so much that it shows over time, and I need to use this hair mask to make my hair soft and shiny and oil-free once again.
Congratulations on reaching tailbone length! Remember how my hair tangled so badly when I visited you and wore it in this style? XD You were a true friend to help me comb it all out. The braid I add now helps keep tangles away, and I can wear my hair like this with no worries.

  6. Thank you so much! I'm getting fairytale ends now, so starting this month I 'll microtrim my hair to get it more even without losing length.
I certainly remember how your hair got so tangled, and I was more that happy to help you untangle it. (I still regret not taking a picture of your beautiful hair when it was all combed out ;-) )
I know it can be a nightmare when your hair gets so tangled that you feel you never ever get it right anymore. I've been in the shower more than once almost crying because of the tangled mess I got, before I found out that my hair doesn't like too much protein.
I'm glad you found a way to prevent the tangling, and a lovely way it is.
I'm going to try your recipe and keep you posted about my results. Thank you for everything <3
