I hope you're having a good week! Thanks so much for following my hair posts; yesterday I tried a hairstyle that reminded me of Elsa's coronation hairstyle on "Frozen." This version is an inside-out lace rope braid, wrapped around into a low bun. I know hers is technically a French braided fishtail, but this is a fun version for really long hair.

I didn't realize that Elsa's 'do was a french braid fishtail, I thought it was just a rope braid (except I call it twists, didn't realize that was called a rope braid) After we watched Frozen I tried the same idea. I started with 2 strands, crossed them and kept adding in sections from the outside and twisting. Is that the same as rope braiding?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment! Yes, if you're twisting your two-strand braid, then it's a rope braid. A fishtail braid, you take a small strand from the outer-most section on one side and add it to the other side, then visa-versa. To French-braid it, you just gather a little extra hair to the section before doing the cross-over step. Lilith Moon has some really great videos showing both techniques. Thanks again!
