Thank you for all your views and comments! Today I made a loose hairband fishtail braid, then wrapped it around a side bun made out of another fishtail braid. The look reminds me of a seashell, so I'll borrow the name of a popular braided hairstyle that I see a lot on the internet. My version of a conch shell braid:
