Criss-Crossed Dutch Braids~ my first post in 2013!

Happy New Year, everybody!!

I hope your 2013 is off to an amazing start!

A friend commented on my circle French braid thread, and in my reply I mentioned that most times Dutch braids turn out a little smoother for me than French braids. I love both, though~ it's such a quick, easy way to dress up your hair! Here are a few pictures of one of my favorite things to do with Dutch braids:

Seeing these pictures makes me want to braid my hair like this again~ maybe I'll try it tomorrow. If I do I'll be sure to post pictures :-)

Good night, all, and a very Happy New Year!

  3. Thank you, Adelina and Misty! To do this hairstyle, I divided my hair vertically into two sections. Then I divided it horizontally, so that basically my hair is in four equal sections, kind of like a pie :-) Then I started my Dutch braid in the upper left section, and added all the hair in that section. I kept on braiding with the hair from the lower right section. The second braid started in the upper right section and continued on to the lower left section. When the cross-over point came, I braided a few times without adding hair, until my braid had reached the lower left section and I could add hair again. Since my hair is so long, I simply wrapped the lengths of my two braids around my head, and let the ends of the braids come down over my shoulders. I clipped the braids together at the nape of my neck, plus used some strategically-placed bobby pins. Voila!

  4. That is really amazing. When I think of my ideal hair length I'm really thinking of my ideal braid length. My hair is only just long enough that I can wrap it around my hair, I'm going to have to wait a few years before I can wrap multiply times :)

    Thanks for the instructions
