New Year's Eve Braided Updo

Hi friends,

My last post of 2017~ a braided updo with orange and white accents to match my lace dress.  To make this hairstyle I pinned a poofy section in front, then made three 4-strand braids.  I put the length of my hair in a low ponytail and braided my ponytail loosely in a 3-strand braid, which I wrapped up into a low bun/short ponytail.

How fun to share hairstyle pictures with you month after month, here on my blog and on Instagram and Facebook.  Thank you so much for following my posts, I wish you all the best in the new year and forever.

My top 10 favorite hairstyles of 2017

Hi friends,

Hard to believe we are once again at the end of another year, and about to start on a brand new adventure called 2018!  After much checking and remembering and looking back, here are my top ten favorite hairstyles of 2017.  Did I leave a style out that you feel I should have mentioned?  Leave a comment and let me know.  Thank you for following my posts and being such a supportive, kind friend all year long.  Looking forward to seeing what braids and hairstyles I will be able to share with you in the new year!

By the way, an update on my length: when I tip my head back, my hair rests on the floor.  This won't be the first time I have reached floor length; I just have always trimmed it back to ankle length.  But this time I thought I would officially let my hair reach floor, and see how long I decide to let it stay there before going back to ankle again.  Thank you for the encouragement as I grow longer!  As always, my main hair goals are to have healthy shiny hair that is thick all the way to the ends, with little or no taper.  And now for the top 10 of 2017!

Modern version of Sissi Braids

Hi everyone,

A friend who follows my blog asked me many weeks ago to do some of Empress Sissi's hairstyles, so I looked up pictures online and was amazed at her lovely hair and updo's.  After so much time has passed, I finally attempted a Sissi hairstyle today.  I would have liked to change a few things about it, and will definitely do this hairstyle again because I love it.  My modern version of Empress Sissi's braided updo is a poof in the front, then three French braids.  I brought the ends of my French braids up and clipped them together with my favorite little hair clips.  Looking back, I should have made the outer French braids equal sizes, but the outer right braid was smaller than the other two.  To hide the slightly off-centered effect, I added a few flowers that matched my shirt.

I love this hairstyle because it looks so fancy but it simple to make.  It lasted all day long without looking fuzzy, which is always nice in a hairstyle.  Thank you so much for following my blog, and I hope you have a wonderful New Year's celebration with family and friends.  Thank you for being my friend!

Christmas Angel Ponytail

Hello friends,

How fun to keep celebrating the Christmas season with a special hairstyle.  This morning I saw a post on Facebook of the cutest angel half-updo.  I took the concept and turned it into an angel ponytail for super long hair.  I love this hair'do, it is so fun and cute and festive!  I made it with hair ties and added a bit of shiny tinsel garland for the halo.
